The City of Seattle and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) are working to develop potential design concepts for a suicide barrier on the historic Aurora Bridge.

The City of Seattle is looking for design professionals to participate in a design charette for a suicide barrier on the Aurora Bridge. Participants will work with other design professionals, stakeholders, bridge engineers, historic interests, and members of the community to develop draft design sketches to share at a public open house that evening. During this charette, participants will consider community issues and ideas that were generated at a public workshop held on January 30.

The City of Seattle and WSDOT are committed to investigating creative designs and working with the community and stakeholders. This design charette is part of a larger community outreach process that will culminate in a report to the Washington State Legislature in March 2008.
