Historic preservation in New Orleans

Join the effort to save thousands of historic homes in New Orleans!
Come join developer Kevin Daniels, along with fellow architects, engineers and contractors as they head down to the Big East to work in the Ninth Wards’ historic Holy Cross neighborhood from April 4th – 8th 11th -14th. All skill levels are needed as we complete repairs on two historic homes that were started on previous trips.

It is estimated that there are over 10,000 damaged homes remaining and it could be nearly 25 years before the city recovers fully from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Kevin has led six groups down to NOLA since the hurricane and promises a lifetime worth of experiences. And what a great city to volunteering in, with great food, music and people.

For more information go to the 2011 New Orleans Service Project Facebook page or to PreservationNation.org for numerous articles about the past experiences of the groups (search New Orleans or Holy Cross).

In addition there will be an open house at Daniels Recital Hall (Fifth & Marion in Seattle) on Thursday February 24th from noon until 1:30 (includes a free concert!) and from 4:30 until 7:00 PM where more information will be presented. If you prefer you may also contact Kevin directly through his email at kevin.daniels@nsco.com.
If you have ever thought about volunteering in a disaster area, here is your chance!
