The goal of AED is to provide education for children most affected by the consequences of war, poverty and the tsunami of December 26, 2004. AED manifests its core value that each child has immeasurable worth despite economic marginalization by striving to provide for these children the best educational opportunities possible. AWB-Seattle partnered with AED to create the Kalapuwa Sri Boys Orphanage in Pamungama, Sri Lanka.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – SEATTLE/SOUTH KING COUNTY
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing ministry. Habitat welcomes all people- regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference-to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter. AWB-Seattle has worked with H4H on several local projects, including the Judkins Park Cottages and the Westway Village charette.
The Mama Maria Wellness Clinic is a grassroots organization dedicated to providing developing countries rural health care and self sustaining village development projects.AWB-Seattle partnered with Mama Maria and Village Volunteers to develop a master plan as well as design a clinic in rural Kenya.
Village Volunteers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works in partnership with rural village programs to support the development of sustainable solutions for community survival, education, and growth. Committed to preserving autonomy and cultural heritage, Village Volunteers works in collaboration with villages to support the achievement of their goals and objectives by integrating international volunteerism, sustainable community development, and program assistance.AWB-Seattle partnered with Mama Maria and Village Volunteers to develop a master plan as well as design a clinic in rural Kenya.
PHINNEY NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
The Phinney Neighborhood Association is a non-profit community organization founded in 1980 by Phinney neighbors to build community. The PNA provides and promotes programs, services and activities aimed at encouraging connections between neighbors and fostering civic involvement in our diverse community.AWB-Seattle first partnered with PNA on a design charette in October 2006.
