AWB Launches a Refreshed Website to Bring in the New Year
We are excited to share this new, refreshed website with our amazing community of volunteers and community partners to honor the meaningful work we do here. We hope you will enjoy learning more about the ways we do our work, how to get involved and explore the incredible depth and breadth of projects AWB volunteers have worked on over the years in this new format.
A website is always is a work in progress and ours is no exception. As an almost entirely volunteer led and run organization, we always imagine moving faster, going deeper, and doing more. Meanwhile technology needs, demands and expectations grow to be more diverse and sophisticated. Likely we will never be able to keep pace, and you will find few whistles and bells among these virtual pages, but we hope to provide ways to share the stories of our inspiring community partners, highlight the excellence and talents of our volunteers, offer gratitude to our donors and sponsors and provide opportunities to get involved in this important work.
Over 2014, we will be adding even more project descriptions – our apologies if you don’t see one that you worked on yet! – and reconnecting with community partners to learn how their designs have manifested and communities have been impacted by AWB’s design services. We hope to dive deeper into our project stories and share some of the background research design teams have done over the years to educate and inform current and future design(er)s. We will also be featuring stories of our volunteers, partners and donors to honor the generosity of our community.
Architects Without Borders – Seattle aspires to move the needle on the role design can play in changing the world. By engaging design thinking and solutions we know we have the capacity to address the most critical challenges of our day. By partnering with local community organizations this work is personal, thoughtful and participatory. Thank you for learning about our work and hopefully joining us (if you haven’t already) in our mission.
A huge shout out goes to Peter Cromwell who worked creatively and tirelessly on our photos throughout the site, designed the cool icons and co-designed the website with Ginger Daniel, our Executive Director. Peter is also a member of the award-winning Peru design team and a landscape designer at Barker Landscape Architects. Also, a seasonal song of gratitude for Michael Ortileb, our technological guru who helped us realize our vision through customized WordPress expertise. These represent enormous gifts of pro bono talent that so many of you share with Architects Without Borders – Seattle every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
