ARCHITORTURE - CARVE FOR A CAUSE 2007
On a cold October night, people gathered to witness a bizarre spectacle - architects, designers, and friends staring at grotesque and misshapen pumpkins. The carved pumpkins did not survive to see Winter, but they contributed to a great fundraiser. Architects in town contributed over $4,000 to AWB-Seattle - and perfect timing - as this funding recently helped AWB to quickly organize volunteer teams to perform damage assessments following the recent floods. Thank you all who participated and made this a great event.
Keep an eye out for next year and sharpen the knives.

- Where does my donation go?
- When Katrina hit, there were a tremendous amount of people seeking a way to lend a hand- the Seattle architecture and design community included. This fund will allow us to act to get people into safe structures faster and help keep people out of unsafe structures sooner. It will help provide training in damage assessment and help us to supplement the burden of transportation for our volunteers. The fund will allow AWB-Seattle to get to an afflicted community, assess the situation and be proactive in the design of the recovery. This fund will be the rainy day – or hurricane or earthquake or tornado- fund to allow immediate assistance to communities in need.
