The question on all our minds – How have the recent earthquakes in Nepal affected the Deboche Buddhist Nunnery project and the Everest Biogas project? We are all struck by the devastation following the recent earthquake in Nepal, and it hit very close to home for our two projects there. Fortunately, our partners at the Deboche Buddhist Nunnery and Everest Biogas projects are safe, but the structures at Deboche have sustained substantial damage. Nepal Update Our thoughts are with Nepal in wake of the recent earthquake. We will be updating this page with information about the Deboche nuns (our current project in Nepal) along with the next steps AWB-Seattle may take in supporting the long-term recovery efforts. We are happy to share that all the nuns from the Deboche Nunnery are safe, as well as those that AWB-Seattle is partnering with on the Nepal projects. AWB Peru Work Wins Global Public Interest in Design Award!

AWB Peru Work Wins Public Interest Design-Global Award!   On December 10, 2013, Ecole Spécial d’Architecture, Design Corps and the Social Economic Environmental Design (SEED) Network announced that six projects have been selected through a competitive jury process and will be presented at a public two-day global convening in Paris on April 18 and 19, 2014. The applications covered 28 countries and were very competitive with jury deliberations digging deeply into all six selection criteria: Effectiveness, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Impactful, and Systemic and Participatory.   Architects Without Borders-Seattle,  the University of Washington, and multiple UW students have built a long-term partnership with the residents of Lomas de Zapallal, an […]
